Wexford Hub

The FAI Project FUTSAL Wexford hub is located in Wexford Youths FC. This hub is run in partnership with Wexford County Council, and the Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board.

Students undertake a programme of education which includes:

Sports & Recreation studies (FETAC Level 4 Introduction to Sport and Recreation Award)

3 compulsory subjects:

• Sport & Recreation studies

• Communications

• Work Experience

Plus 5 other subjects which may include:

• Anatomy & Physiology

• Football Coaching

• Exercise and fitness

• Health related fitness

• Information Technology

• Leisure Facility Operations

• First Aid

A comprehensive programme of FAI certified courses is also delivered:

• Kick Start 1 – Introduction to Coaching

• Kick Start 2 – Introduction to Coaching

• Pan disability certificate

• Futsal certificate

• Introductory referees course

• Video match analysis

• Intercultural workshop

• Volunteers’ workshop

The work experience module will involve students coaching children in their locality, be it in schools, community centres and/or clubs. Students will also assist in the delivery of various social inclusion initiatives in the South Dublin area. Here, students put the knowledge and skills acquired on their FAI courses into practice.

Semester three will see the hub linked with a local pan-disability football club where children and adults of all ages and abilities can come together in the safe environs of their local club to play football and be coached by the project hub participants.

The Course is coordinated by Football Development Officer, William Doyle who is co funded by the FAI and Wexford County Council.
